Community rally round McCarthys ahead of Fanore body post-mortem

 

The family of missing Ballyvaughan woman Deirdre McCarthy are anxiously awaiting formal identification on the body of a woman found in Fanore yesterday.

The Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Khalid Jabbar is due to carry out a post mortem on the remains at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick later this morning, and will provide a positive identification of the deceased for gardaí .

The McCarthy family were informed of developments in Fanore yesterday as door to door inquiries continued in Ballyvaughan, and while gardaí  say they’re treating the discovery as suspicious, no arrests have been made.

Pat O’Donoghue is Chairman of the Ballyvaughan Development Committee and he says locals are shocked at this week’s tragic events.
