A house in Lisdoonvarna is set to go under the hammer today – for the benefit of animals in County Clare.
Local Doctor Maura Lernihan passed away in 2007, and bequeathed her home and surgery to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

A native of Kilmihil, the late Dr. Lernihan is well remembered as a popular local GP as well as a lover of animals, especially dogs.
Her home at Ballinsheen, Lisdoonvarna has been on the market for the past year and will go under the hammer at a public auction in Ennistymon this afternoon with a guide price of around 200,000 euro.
