Air quality in Shannon has been given a clean bill of health by the EPA.

The initial results a 12 month assessment which began in March has found the level of hazardous substances in the air are well below the limit values set for the protection of human health.
In carrying out the evaluation The Environmental Protection use mobile air quality labs to measure various substances in the atmosphere above Shannon, such as Sulphur Dioxide, Benzene, or fine particles, which can, in increased levels, be linked to health hazards such as heart disease or lung cancer.
