The Department of Communications will begin a process today to identify which parts of the country are without access to broadband.
The Rural Broadband Scheme aims to ensure that universal broadband access is provided in Ireland by the end of next year.
Residents and businesses who are currently without broadband are being encouraged to contact their local authority and they in turn will inform the Government Department.
