Senators attend final council meeting

Clare’s newly elected Senators attended their final meeting of Clare County Council last evening – but this time as invited guests.

Shannon’s Tony Mulcahy and Ennistymon’s Martin Conway – both of whom are now Fine Gael members of the Seanad, were welcomed with loud applause by their former council colleagues at a meeting in Ennis, along with the County’s new TDs.

Clare’s Oireachtas members addressed the council on local issues of national importance including job creation, Tourism promotion and infrastructural development.

The two vacant council seats left by the newly elected Senators are expected to be filled next month.
