17 Clare children received a total of just over 176 thousand euro in compensation payments relating to personal injury claims in 2010.
The figures have been released by InjuriesBoard.ie, an independent statutory body which assesses the amount of compensation due to a person who has suffered a personal injury.
However, the average payment made to the family of a Clare child, just over 10,000 euro, was almost four thousand less than the national average and the lowest of any county in Munster.

Nationally, 615 minors were awarded compensation totaling €8.5million with girls receiving more awards than boys. Statistics also show that April and August are the most dangerous months, while December is the safest.
