Cliffs Management And Staff To Enter Talks

Management and staff at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre are to enter into talks at the Labour relations commission, in a bid to end their ongoing pay dispute

A meeting, described as ‘productive’, was held between management at the Cliffs of Moher Centre and SIPTU representatives last evening.

The talks were held following the union’s notification of industrial action last week.

Following the negotiations, both sides have agreed to enter a process with the Labour Relations Commission to seek an agreed resolution to the dispute.

The ongoing pay row at the world famous visitors attraction centres on a Labour Court recommendation, issued last year, which called for staff at the site to be paid the same rates as workers with Clare County Council, the owners of Cliffs of Moher Centre Ltd.

However, in a statement to Clare FM, the company had said it was not in a position to implement the increased payments, which would cost around 400 thousand euro annually, due to losses at the centre and a 23% drop in tourist numbers in recent years.
