Aer Lingus Strike Off

 

Strike action by pilots at Aer Lingus – scheduled to get underway tomorrow – has been called off after fifteen hours of crunch talks overnight at the Labour Relations Commission.

Discussions with IALPA – the pilot’s union – and airline representatives – broke up this morning just after 9 o’clock to allow officials time to consider a proposal document.

The proposals covered two main issues – the management of rosters for the summer season – and the development of a long-term roster system.

Strike action would have caused a full cancellation of services but Aer Lingus will now operate a full schedule from tomorrow.

Customers who have already changed their bookings to another date, are being advised that they can change back to their original date of travel through the airline’s website.

Head of HR with Aer Lingus Michael Grealy says a big step has been made in resolving the dispute but that a lot more negotiating has yet to be done:
