County Clare will have a new first citizen today.
Clare County Council will hold its annual general meeting at Aras Chontae an Chlair in Ennis this afternoon where elections for the position of Mayor will be held.
It’s widely anticipated that East Clare Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Hayes will take up the role of Cathaoirleach with Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan expected to become Deputy Mayor as part of a cross party powersharing pact between elected members.
