Children’s Hospital site to be discussed at Cabinet

 

An independent review group will tell the cabinet today that the Mater site in Dublin is the best place for a National Children’s Hospital.

Health Minister Dr James Reilly appointed the group to evaluate the proposed site – he’s due to make an official statement on the outcome tomorrow.

If planning permission is given for the project, it’s thought the hospital could be open to patients in 2015.

Mary O’Connor is Chief Executive Officer of Children in Hospital Ireland, an organisation which promotes children’s rights in hospital.

She’s confident that concerns about accessing the Mater’s city centre location will be addressed in the final project:
