The number of births in Clare in 2010 were at their lowest level for nine years.
However, new figures also show that the number of deaths in the county were at their lowest level since records began
1625 births were registered in Clare in 2010, down from just under 1900 the previous year.

According to the Central Statistics Office, it’s the lowest level recorded here since 2001.
The split between the sexes was alsmot even – 820 boys and 815 girls – while 70% of births were to married couples.
741 Clare residents died last year – 384 males, and 357 females – down from a total of 827 for the previous year.
This is the lowest level since these statistics were first recorded in 2004.
