Efforts stepped up to restore “iconic” signpost

Efforts to restore and protect the iconic Ballyvaughan Signpost will be discussed by members of Clare County Council today.

Business and tourism operators expressed outrage when the world famous N67 signpost – which  carried numerous colourful pointers towards Lisdoonvarna, Fanore, local pubs, tea-rooms and tourist attractions for years was removed during an NRA review.

Talks to restore the signs in another location have been ongoing but 10 members of Clare County Council have requested this afternoon’s special meeting which will call for restoration of the sign and its future protection in its previous location.

Local businesses are also annoyed that the scenic coast road is still not signposted from Ballyvaughan despite assurances last month that a new sign was ordered,

Fanore businessman Ross Quinn says this is a much more pressing issue
