Transport Minister may back extra tolls proposals Transport Minister has indicated that new tolls to fund road projects or public transport cannot be ruled out.
Earlier this year it emerged the NRA is seeking to place extra tolls on eight locations with the Ennis By Pass among those being looked at.
The move is in an effort to make up the shortfall in funding from government.
The National Roads Authority may also seek to raise the existing toll on the Limerick Tunnel as its paying almost €500,000 a month to the private operators of the Tolled road along with the M3 motorway because traffic has fallen short of anticipated levels.
In May, members of Clare County Council were urged to resist any efforts to toll the Ennis to Gort Motorway and to make their opposition known to the Transport Minister.
