The international community is being criticised for its slow response to the crisis in Somalia.
Ireland has pledged 7 million euro in aid so far – and early this morning 38 metric tonnes in emergency humanitarian supplies were delivered to the capital Mogadishu.

Yesterday the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade held a meeting with the heads of Concern, Trocaire and Oxfam – where Ireland’s contribution was acknowledged as ‘committed’.
But Chairman of the Committee, and Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen, says they’re writing to the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore asking him to put pressure on his European counterparts.
