The way has been cleared for the extinguishment of a public right of way across Doonbeg Golf Club.

The High Court has upheld at decision taken by Clare County Council almost two years ago to remove the right of way across the 4th and 14th fairways and provide an alternative route nearby including a car park.
A challenge to the extinguishment of the right of way was taken by James McNulty of Ballinagun West Kilrush declaring that the council, in extinguishing the right of way, was acting beyond its powers.
However Mr Justice Peter Charleton dismissed his bid on grounds including that the application was brought outside the legal time limits and added that no good reason for extending the time to bring the proceedings was given.
