Republicans in the US house of representatives are due to meet in the coming hours – to try and secure a breakthrough on the country’s debt crisis.
Disagreements within the party meant a planned vote on raising the national debt ceiling had to be delayed overnight.

The US President Barack Obama has warned that if it isn’t raised by next Tuesday, the country could be facing default.
