A woman is being treated in Kerry General Hospital after being airlifted from a capsized yacht off the Cork coast last night.

She was part of a 21 man crew swept overboard during the Fastnet race.
Emergency services including the Shannon Based Coastguard Helicopter and the navy went to the crew’s rescue about 10 miles out from Baltimore.
16 of the crew were found clinging to the keel of the capsized boat, the remaining five were found drifting in a life-raft.
Ciarán Cotter is coxman with the Baltimore lifeboat crew – he says boats are much more advanced now than they were in 1979, when 15 died during the Fastnet tragedy.
