Retired broadcaster Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh has opted NOT to contest the presidential election, despite expressing an interest in the role earlier this month.
The veteran sports commentator, who turned 81 last weekend, issued a statement last night – in which he confirmed that he would not be entering the race to succeed Mary McAleese.
