The motorway from Ennis to Gort won’t stretch to Galway until foreign banks become interested in investing in Ireland again.
That’s the view of the Minister for Transport, despite hopes that development of the M18 would continue towards Galway following previous plans for further by-passes of Claregalway and Tuam.
The project was to begin earlier this year but Minister Leo Varadkar says he can’t give any promises or time line for the Gort to Tuam stretch given the economic downturn
