New Management Structures at Ennis General

The Health Minister has announced the new management structures that will govern hospitals in the Mid West including Ennis General.

The move by James Reilly flagged in October is in an effort to fill posts and improve standards and comes as the main hospitals struggle to control their budget deficits and chronic A&E overcrowding.

Under the new management structures announced by Minister Reilly Clare’s County Hospital along with Limerick, Nenagh, Croom and St John’s will work together under one CEO.

Another CEO has also been appointed to run Galway University Hospital along with  Portiuncula in Ballinasloe and Roscommon General Hospital.

Ms Ann Doherty, former head of the National Hospitals Office will take the helm over the Mid West Hospitals while
Mr Bill Maher, currently Acting CEO of St Vincent’s University Hospital will charge of the other group.

The hospital groups will have a single clinical governance model, one budget and one employment ceiling and according to the Minister the new arrangements are designed to deliver improved performance and accountability for the efficient and safe delivery of acute hospital services.
