Cash strapped Ennis businesses will be hoping for some Christmas cheer this evening when town councillors meet to thrash out their budgetary expenditure for 2012.
In recent years the council has frozen commercial rates for the local business sector and now traders are calling on local representatives to go one step further and follow the example of their Dublin colleagues in slashing rates for the next 12 months.
On Thursday Kilrush Town Council adjourned its Budget meeting to allow for further negotiations in order to secure what they said is the best deal for both local businesses and the community.
