With just one more big sleep till Santa, parents across Clare are being urged to be fire safety aware to help ensure the day doesn’t end in tragedy.
Over the festive season last year the fire service responded to 118 incidents- 65 of them fire related, from house and chimney fires to smaller blazes because of faulty lights or unattended candles.
Statistics show that 80 percent of fire related deaths occour in the home in Ireland.
