One in eight welfare claims by non-residents reviewed by inspectors saw payments stopped throughout the year.
The crackdown and other work by the Special Investigations Unit saw savings for the taxpayer of 60 million euro – 10 million more than expected.
Almost 5 thousand non-residency cases were reviewed and 12% of them had payments terminated.
