Campaigners for the Ennis-Galway rail-line are calling for an independent enquiry to be carried out into the operation of the route.
It follows an emergency meeting of the western Inter-county Rail committee into a recent Prime Time Report questioned the viability of the route.

However supporters of the service says the figures quoted were inaccurate, and claim it has been undermined by Iarnrod Eireann who do not offer an intercity service on the line, while the Transport Minister also questioned the figures.
