Iarnoid Eireann’s being urged to adopt a "Ryanair" style model in order to boost passenger numbers on the Ennis to Galway route.
The transport company has come under fire recently amid claims its failing to properly address the low uptake on the route by not providing an online ticketing system or inter-city rail stock.
Almost a quarter of a million passengers used the Limerick- Ennis-Galway service in 2011 and while the figures are lower that expected, Iranrod Eireann insists its invested heavily in promoting the line and will continue to do so.
