The establishment of a global cargo hub at Shannon Airport has been described as the key to it’s future success by one of the leading Irish voices in global aviation.
Ennis native Domhnal Slattery – who’s chief Executive of Avolon – a global aircraft leasing business with a total fleet value worth four billion euro – says it’s difficult to validate Shannon’s future existence as a passenger facility.
In an interview to be broadcast on Clare FM’s Morning Focus the millionaire businessman says passenger traffic does have a role to play in Shannon, if an anchor airline like Ryanair can be brought back.
But he says the main business for Shannon’s future must be based on the establishment of an International Cargo Hub
