The government is being called upon to underline the importance of the power stations Moneypoint and Ardnacrusha by ensuring that they are not sold to raise money for the states.
Non-strategic power generating stations are to be sold off as part of government efforts to raise three billion euro – these are to be identified by Minister Pat Rabbitte who is to make his views known to cabinet by the end of March.

Local Labour TD Michael McNamara says he’s been informed Moneypoint and Ardnacrusha WONT included in the sale of state assets but the list has not yet been officially specified or agreed by the government partners.
Clare Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley fears that if they do go under the hammer vital jobs in Clare would be lost.
