Plans For National Children’s Hospital Rejected

The Tanaiste says all options will now be considered after An Bord Pleanala rejected planning permission for the children’s hospital to be located on the Mater site in Dublin.

The Board says the proposed hospital is too high and too condensed on the site and would have a negative impact on the Dublin skyline.

Eamon Gilmore’s told the Dáil that a new national children’s hospital will be built – either through a revised plan on this site or on a different one.

Fianna Fail’s demanding emergency legislation to declare the project a piece of critical infrastructure, meaning it could avoid a lengthy re-planning process.
