Councillors promised local people will be involved in state water services

Clare Councillors have been assured that local knowledge will be utilized by the proposed State company to run Ireland’s water supply.

Irish Water will be funded by domestic charges once meters have been installed, but has been opposed by local representatives who want the Council to retain the powers and associated with the local supply.

They made their views known at a special meeting at Aras Chontae an Chlair this week which also heard the views of Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley and Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway.
