Carrigaholt Garda Station officially shuts its doors today after over 80 years of community based policing
It’s one of 31 stations nationwide that has been closed as part of major cost saving plans announced in the budget.
Deep concerns have been expressed by locals in West Clare about future policing in the area while the Garda Representative Association would change the DNA of policing in Ireland.

However Superintendent for the Kilrush Garda District Gerry Wall has moved to reassure the communities in Carrigaholt, Cross and Kilbaha that there will continue to be a strong policing presence locally.
