Clare County Council is calling on the Justice Minister not to proceed with plans to close further garda stations in rural areas.
Since coming to office, Minister Alan Shatter has already overseen the closure of 39 stations nationwide, including Carrigaholt in West Clare, and he recently announced that more will shut next year.

This week, local representatives criticised the Minister’s decision, saying it’s unrealistic to expect that rural policing will not be affected.
