Discussions continue at Shannon Airport

Aer Lingus is being urged to engage in a constructive manner with workers at its maintenance facilities in Shannon Airport before making any decision on their future.

However, local representatives say admit will ‘take sacrifices’ from staff in order to ensure that the former flag carrier does not move the facilities to Dublin.

70 jobs are at risk at Shannon under plans by the former flag carrier to transfer maintenance to the capital.

It’s understood this would save around 1.7 million euro a year, but workers want management to listen to their cost-saving proposals.  Talks are believed to be ongoing.
