President Michael D Higgins will officially open Bloom 2012 at the Phoenix Park in Dublin today.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the five day gardening, food and family event which is in its sixth year.

27 show-gardens will be on display over the 70 acre site as well as over 100 food and drink producers, 40 nurseries and 25 cookery demonstrations.
Almost 90,000 people visited the festival last year.
