Beach bye-laws for the summer season come into effect across Clare from today.
The seasonal laws apply to 12 sites in North and West Clare, along with two lakeshore beaches in Mountshannon and Ballycuggeran, Killaloe.

The bye-laws will run until the end of August and impose restrictions on animal owners – between the hours of 11:00 and 6:00 members of the public are not allowed to bring horses onto beaches, while dogs are also banned between these hours, even if on a leash.
Others, including the mandatory clean up and control of pets and the safe use of watercraft, apply year-round.
