Eight Clare beaches have retained their blue flag status for the forthcoming tourist season.
At a ceremony in Dublin in the last hour, it has been confirmed that the prestigious awards will remain in North Clare at Fanore, Lahinch, White Strand Miltown Malbay, White Strand Doonbeg, at Kilkee and Cappa beach in Kilrush in West Clare and in East Clare at Ballycuggeran and Mountshannon.

Local representatives have welcomed today’s announcement, and expressed hopes that it will help grow tourism numbers throughout the county.
