Crusheen man charged over Ardrahan drugs seizure

A Crusheen man charged over a drugs seizure in Ardrahan is due back before the courts in Ennis next week.

45 year old Simon Bracken is one two people charged in connection with the discovery of cannabis herb and ecstasy tablets by gardaí  on Wednesday night.

Ennis District Court heard that Simon Bracken of Crusheen, Ennis, County Clare and 18 year old Mark Murphy of 44 Portacarron Knocknacarra Galway City were detained by officers in Crusheen Village at around 7 pm last Wednesday.

They were subsequently arrested following the search of a car in which 20 thousand euro worth of cannabis herb and 3 thousand euro worth of esctacy tablets were discovered.

The two men have been charged with possession of drugs for sale or supply contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and Simon Bracken was remanded in custody to appear in court in Clare next Wednesday while Mark Murphy will appear before the courts in Gort on June 28th.

The drugs seizure was part of an ongoing investigation into drug dealing in the greater Galway area and two women also arrested on Wednesday evening in Crusheen were subsequently released without charge
