Ireland had the fifth highest consumer prices in the EU last year.

That’s according to new figures released by Eurostat, which highlight the difference in cost for goods and services across member states.

Prices vary from 51 per cent of the EU average in Bulgaria to 142 per cent in Denmark.

Ireland ranked fifth on the list – behind Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Luxembourg – due to the higher cost of alcohol, tobacco and food here.
