Commuters travelling from North Clare to Galway have been urged to take the scenic route this week, with the launch of a new fast speed ferry service.
The Ballyvaughan Bay Hop begins today, in a series of trials which will see three return journeys each day until Saturday.

Operators say that as well as cutting travel times, the service will also save money with reduced fuel costs for those travelling between Ballyvaughan and Galway City.
A feasibility study has been carried out to ascertain the level of interest in the service, and operator Gwen Ryan is hoping the indicated levels of demand will continue
