A Government task force is meeting this lunchtime to co-ordinate the response to last night’s severe flooding in the South of the country.
In parts of Cork city and county, up to 70 millimeters of rain fell between 1 O’Clock and 4’O Clock this morning and residents are currently being asked to continue conserving electricity, as ESB Networks deals with power outages caused by the flooding.

As clean-ups continue Met Éireann’s warning there could be further spot flooding this afternoon across the midlands, Leinster and Ulster.
