Roche insists there were now IDA inducements to stay in Clare

The managing director of Roche Ireland insists their decision to maintain a presence in Ireland was NOT induced by supports from state agencies.

Sven Hauptmann has told Clare FM that he did liaise with the IDA and speak with Jobs Minister Richard Bruton while the future of the Clarecastle manufacturing plant was in doubt during a review of the firm’s global operations.

However, he says no inducements were given to Roche, prior to their announcement that the jobs of it’s 400 directly employed and contracted staff are safe.
