SIPTU warns strike action could ground all flights at Shannon Cork and Dublin

The union representing Aer Lingus and Dublin Airport Authority workers at Shannon, Cork and Dublin Airports has warned that strike action at the state airports is ‘more probable than possible’.

Workers say plans to reform their pension arrangements could cost them thousands of euro – SIPTU says around 2500 current and former workers at Clare’s international airport would be affected as part of the the proposals.

SIPTU has given the go-ahead for industrial action at the state airports, which will come in the form of rolling strikes which will ground flights on Thursday, September 20th.

The union’s Pension Products Co-Ordinator Dermot O’Loughlin warns this could ground all traffic at Shannon, Cork and Dublin for the 24-hour period.
