A 31 year old Australian man has been remanded in custody after being charged in connection with an alleged hammer attack on two Irish backpackers in Melbourne.
The victims – who are in the twenties and thirties – were seriously injured when they were set upon at a house in the suburbs.

They’re now in hospital.
Luke James Wentholt, of Saint Kilda East, appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today charged with two counts each of intentionally causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury to the Irish men.
