The US Republican Party Convention will get underway properly in Florida today.
Yesterday – minutes after it opened – the convention was forced to adjourn because of tropical storm Isaac.

The Republican governors of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi cancelled their trips to the convention to focus on disaster prevention efforts in their home States.
The convention will see the formal nomination of Mitt Romney as the Republican Presidential candidate – and Paul Ryan as his running mate.
It comes as the latest opinion polls put Mitt Romney and President Obama neck in neck in the race for the White House.
