A Clare Government Senator insists he will be pushing the case for a rebate on fuel for Clare hauliers who say their industry is at crisis point.
The Irish Road Haulage Association has stepped up its calls for a rebate for the sector after one of the country’s largest freight firms Target Express ceased trading on Monday with the loss of nearly 400 jobs.

It says this would allow hauliers to compete with rivals who are using low-cost laundered fuel, sustain jobs and protect Irish exports .
Clare Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy says he will be pressing upon the Finance Minister the need to take action on this matter now
