It’s been proposed that the new Ennis Inner Relief Road be named after one of Clare’s longest serving public representatives.
Ennis Town Council is to consider naming the new route, which is under construction until the end of the month, the Patrick Hogan Road.

The Labour TD was first elected to the Dáil in 1923, and represented Clare in Leinster House for a total of almost 40 years, including a sixteen year stint as Ceann Comhairle. His family have given the plan their blessing.
Jo Walsh, Constituency Organiser for Labour, feels it would be proper to honour Patrick Hogan in this way in the party’s centenary
