The Rail Accident Investigation Unit has launched an investigation after a woman narrowing escaped serious injury when a train struck her car in Birdhill.
The incident, involving the 6.20 service from Ballybrophy to Limerick, happened at around 8 o’clock yesterday evening near Killaloe.

A woman – who was sitting inside the vehicle – was taken to hospital following the collision – but it’s believed she’s being treated for shock and her injuries are not serious.
The 8 passengers on-board the train were also uninjured – and were taken to their destination via bus.
