Clare Senator Martin Conway insists he won’t accept a "golden handshake" similar to the one given to his Fine Gael colleague Tony Mulcahy.
Senator Mulcahy has defended accepting a gratuity of 36 thousand euro when he left Clare County Council to join the Seanad.

Martin Conway is entitled to a similar payment once he turns fifty, but says he wasn’t aware such a scheme exists and believes it should be reformed.
