Millions of others still have no power, while modern communications remain cut off in many areas.

The storm caused the worst damage in the 108-year history of New York’s subway system.

At Shannon Airport, this morning’s United Airlines service from Newark was cancelled, as well as the return flight to the US.

British Airways has cancelled it’s service from London to JFK via Shannon and Aer Lingus says it’s flight from Boston does go ahead.  The airline will issue an advisory on it’s JFK service later.
