Further evidence in District Court Judge Trial

An elderly man has told a jury he was amazed to discover that his will left half his estate to his solicitor’s children.

Thomas Davis, now in his 80s, is giving evidence in the trial of district court judge and former solicitor Heather Perrin.

The 60 year old with an address at Lambay Court, Malahide, denies deceptively inducing Mr Davis to bequeath half of his estate to Sybil and Adam Perrin in January 2009.

Thomas Davis is now being cross examined by defence lawyers.

Earlier he told the jury that he and his wife Ada were old, old friends with their former solicitor Heather Perrin.

She was executor of his will which he said he signed on January 22nd 2009 at her offices without it being read over to him because she appeared to be in a hurry.

Asked by the prosecution what his reaction was when he found out months later that the will left half his estate to Heather Perrin’s two children he said he was amazed and couldn’t believe it.

He said he’d trusted the former solicitor.

The jury’s heard in garda interviews the judge said she’d acted on her client’s instructions and that he had expressed concern about leaving all of his estate to his 2 nieces because they’d squandered money in the past.

Thomas Davis has denied  expressing any such concerns.
