The price of drink in supermarkets and off licences could be set to rise – under new proposals from publicans.
They want a 15 per cent levy on all drink sold in the off trade – they say it will raise almost a quarter of a billion euro for the exchequer and protect 50 thousand jobs at the same time.

The Licensed Vintners Association and the Vintners Federation of Ireland say supermarkets are able to sell alcohol too cheaply.
